Projected 21st-Century Glacial Lake Evolution in High Mountain Asia

چکیده

In High Mountain Asia (HMA), rising temperatures and retreating glaciers are leading to the formation of new glacial lakes expansion existing ones. The sudden release water from such can lead devastating lake outburst floods (GLOF) threatening people infrastructure for many kilometers downstream. Therefore, information on future lakes, e.g., their location, area volume as well timing development, is vital sustainable development settlements infrastructures. this study, we present comprehensive estimates in HMA with unprecedented temporal resolution. We rely an ensemble fifteen global climate models using newest CMIP6 data employ a set four Shared Socioeconomic Pathway (SSP) scenarios. With Open Global Glacier Model (OGGM), use modeling framework that explicitly simulates glacier dynamics order model change until 2100 estimate period each 2,700 largest (>0.1 km 2 ) HMA. entire region grow by 474 ± 121 SSP126 833 148 SSP585. Projected 21st-century changes to Arctic marine access

Climate models project continued Arctic sea ice reductions with nearly ice-free summer conditions by the mid-21st century. However, how such reductions will realistically enable marine access is not well understood, especially considering a range of climatic scenarios and ship types. We present 21st century projections of technical shipping accessibility for circumpolar and national scales, the...

How large are projected 21st century storm track changes?

[1] Projected changes in the extra-tropical wintertime storm tracks are investigated using the multi-model ensembles from both the third and fifth phases of the World Climate Research Programme’s Coupled Model Intercomparison Project (CMIP3 and CMIP5). The aim is to characterize the magnitude of the storm track responses relative to their present-day year-to-year variability. For the experiment...

Physicochemical characteristics and trophic state evaluation of post glacial mountain lake using multivariate analysis

The current study deals with the physicochemical characterization, temporal variability and trophic state evaluation of a post glacial mountain lake in eastern Himalaya during the period of 2014-2016. Notable seasonal variations are recorded for physicochemical parameters of lake water. The values for electrical conductivity, total suspended solids, total dissolved solids, total alkalinity and ...
